Pre-legal draft
Draft — not yet reviewed by counsel.
This is a working draft, written by the people building Roomful rather than by a law firm, and published early because a product that asks strangers to meet each other should say out loud what it expects of them. It is not legal advice, and a lawyer has not read it.
The short version
Use Roomful to find events, go to them, and meet the people there. Be the person you would want to sit next to. Do not take the room's data out of the room. Everything here is free, and it is early software, so some of it will break.
Your account
- You need to be 18 or older to have an account here.
- One account per person, and it is yours: do not share it, and do not sign in as someone else.
- Use the name people would recognise you by at an event. Impersonating another person or a company is grounds for removal.
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Details of what that removes are on the privacy page.
What you write here
Your profile, your three lines, your event descriptions and your messages stay yours. By putting them here you give us permission to store them and to show them to exactly the people the product says it shows them to — no wider audience, no other purpose. Keep them accurate: the whole point of the three lines is that someone can act on them.
Hosting an event
- The event is yours. You are responsible for what you announce, whether it happens, the venue, and the safety of the people who turn up.
- Say true things on the event page. If you cancel or move it, tell your guests — the tools to do that are built in.
- Guest details you see as a host are for running that event. They are not a mailing list, and they are not yours to keep afterwards.
- There are no payments on Roomful. Every event here is free to register for, and we never ask you or your guests for card details.
Meeting people
- The floor is opt-in. You appear on it only after you check in and say you are open to talk, and you can stop being open at any moment.
- Sending a connection request is asking, not arranging. Nobody owes you an acceptance.
- When someone declines, you are not told, and you never will be. Do not try to work it out by other means — probing for it is a misuse of this product and its worst possible use.
- Harassment, threats, slurs and unwanted contact after someone has stopped replying all end an account here. You can report anyone from their profile, and a person reads every report.
What you may not do
- Scrape, bulk-copy or export other people's details — from the floor, a guest list or anywhere else.
- Add anyone to a mailing list, a CRM or a recruiting pipeline because you met them here.
- Send spam or unsolicited pitches through the chat or through host announcements.
- Break, probe or work around the security of the service, or reach for data that is not yours.
- Automate access to the service, other than an ordinary browser doing ordinary things.
Early software
Roomful is in pilot. Features change, features disappear, and the service will occasionally be down. It is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, and we are not liable for what you lose by relying on it — including a meeting that did not sync, a notification that did not arrive, or an event that did not happen the way its page said it would. What happens at an event is between you, its host and its venue.
Ending it
You can leave whenever you like. We can suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, and we will do it without much ceremony where someone has made another person unsafe.
Changes, and where this is governed
When these terms change, the new version appears on this page, and anything material also goes out by email. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Bengaluru have jurisdiction.
